Types of Braces
This is the most common and popular type of braces. As the name implies, the components of the braces such as the brackets and bands are made of metal, usually stainless steel. Metal braces are very strong and can be used in almost in type of orthodontics treatment. It is also the most cost-effective option. One part of the braces that is not metal is the ligature rubber band around the brackets that come in a variety of colors to provide accent colors. Dr. Doan only uses the highest quality metal braces made in the USA.
This type of braces is clear or semi-clear and blends in well with the natural teeth to produce a more pleasing cosmetic appearance during orthodontics treatment. Many patients prefer ceramic braces because they feel more comfortable in the mouth than metal braces. Ceramic braces are made of a composite material that is durable and stain resistance. They are more expensive than metal braces, and the brackets may be slightly larger than metal brackets.
As the name suggest, this type of braces is almost invisible when worn. Treatment with Invisalign involves wearing sequential clear molds that slowly move the teeth into position as each mold is changed. Invisalign works best for those who do not have severe orthodontics problems.
